Recently, Djokovic’s legal team revealed that the Serb tested positive for COVID-19 last month as they had applied for medical exemption on the same basis. This didn’t help Novak’s image as people were quick to point out how the Serbian star attended public events even after testing positive.

However, Serbian Prime Minister told media that the talks with the Australian government were ‘constructive’ and they would do everything possible to allow Djokovic to play in the land down under.

It’s a positive tone from the Australian side. The Serbian government is ready to provide all the guarantees necessary for Novak to be allowed to enter Australia, the Serbian president (Aleksandar Vucic) is also involved”.

After getting detained, Djokovic’s legal team decided to appeal the visa cancelation in court and the hearing will take place on Monday. Meanwhile, the Serbian had strong support from his family as they took to the streets of Serbia to gather support all over.

Srdjan Djokovic, father of Novak, told media, “The worldwide support he is getting is worth more than dozens of grand slams. They can’t call this tournament of theirs an Open anymore when it’s closed. We’re not angry with the Australian people, we’re angry with their politicians. He wouldn’t have travelled in the first place if they hadn’t granted him entry”.

The final decision over Djokovic‘s stay in Australia will be revealed on Monday and even if the world no.1 is granted permission to play the ‘happy slam’, the final call stays with the Serb as it won’t be easy to just concentrate on tennis having gone through such tough circumstances.
