Nick Kyrgios, who played his last match at the Australian Open, has recently announced his decision to play at the inaugural ATP 250 grass-court tournament at Mallorca, Spain. The event starts on the 20th of June, immediately after the Halle Open.

The ATP Mallorca is a decent addition to the existing grass-court calendar, which has limited tournaments for fans to watch before heading into the Wimbledon Championships. While the organizers are yet to reveal the complete list of players participating at Mallorca, Nick Kyrgios becomes one of the few top players to enter the event.

The Australian likes to play on fast-paced surfaces as his game suits the best over there. Also, he always likened grass courts to clay and played fewer tournaments on the red dirt. Having a player like Kyrgios at Mallorca might help the event reach more people as the Aussie has a devoted fan base.

Nick is a star on the ATP Tour. A showman. After the ‘Big 3’, he is one of the greatest tennis stars in the world, being the most followed player by the younger generations,” Toni commented.

The entire tennis world knows the feud between Kyrgios and Nadal. The Australian has always been vocal about the time Nadal takes to serve and even went to the extent of mimicking him at the Australian Open last year to prove his point.

Even though the tennis community lauds Kyrgios’ talents on-court, it’s the blunt disregard towards his peers that draws him flak. The Aussie always boasts about him being one of the few players to defeat the Big-3 (Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer) and considers it a remarkable achievement.

It’s indeed a tremendous feat to defeat the likes of Federer, Djokovic, and Nadal on any given day, but Kyrgios has to thrash them consistently on tour to receive more credit. When he plays tennis with utmost focus, Kyrgios can be a menace on-court.

Unfortunately, the Aussie plays only to entertain the crowd and not to win titles. Hence, the same entertainment is guaranteed at the upcoming Mallorca Championships and the players to feature alongside Nick Kyrgios remains to be seen.
