It will not be wrong to say that tennis is in the blood of the Tsitsipas family as Stefanos Tsitsipas‘ mother and father both have been associated with the sport. His father, Apostolos Tsitsipas, is a tennis coach and has been training him since he was three years old. His mother, Julia Apostoli, is also a former tennis player and was a junior World No.1 and represented the Soviet Union in the Federation Cup.

Just like his mother, Tsitsipas too was a junior World No.1. Even though he didn’t win any junior Grand Slam titles in the singles category, he and his partner, Kenneth Raisma, won the Wimbledon Championships 2016 in the doubles category. With this, he also became the first Greek player to win a junior Grand Slam in the Open Era.

As of now, Tsitsipas has 7 career titles to his name. His best career ranking is 5 so far which is also his current ranking on the ATP Tour.

Tsitsipas: Nationality and Ethnicity

Tsitsipas is one of those athletes who is raised up in a mix of cultures. His father is Greek, while his mother is Russian. This is how the 22-year-old is connected to Russia. Even though he is Greek, he respects all the cultures. Interestingly, he is the only Greek player who has won over three ATP titles on tour.

He took training at the Mouratoglou Academy in France and ever since 2018, Patrick Mouratoglou has also been in coach. He even reached the French Open semi-finals last year but lost to Novak Djokovic back then.

It is definitely a big moment for his nation and all his countrymen will be cheering for the 22-year-old at the French Open 2021. It’ll be intriguing to see if he manages to win the title in Paris or not.
