“Tricky conditions”: Roger Federer Reveals How He Controlled Wimbledon Championships 2021 Pre-Quarterfinals Against Lorenzo Sonego

World No.8 Roger Federer got off to a brilliant start in the second week of the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Facing Lorenzo Sengo in the pre-quarters of the tournament, Federer thrashed his opponent in straight sets. The final scoreline of the match was 7-5, 6-4, 6-2.
Roger Federer will now play his 18th Wimbledon quarter-final match on July 7, 2021. This was his 118th match at the Wimbledon Championships and interestingly, he has now won 105 out of them which levels him with Rafael Nadal for the most wins at a single Grand Slam.
In the post-match interview, Federer revealed that he is extremely happy with the way he played. He also stated that even though the conditions were a little bit tricky on the Centre Court, he was able to control the things after the first set.

“Extremely happy. Tricky conditions. After the first set, I was able to control things,” said Federer in the interview.
Rain disrupted the match during the first set. It was surely not easy for either Federer or Sonego to come back on the court after some time and regain momentum. However, Federer didn’t let his momentum slip and played some beautiful tennis even when the match resumed.

The Swiss Maestro reflected that winning this match is surely a huge moment for him. He will be 40 next month and in a situation like this, every victory surely means a big thing for him.
“It’s a big moment for me,” added the 20-time Grand Slam champion.
