“Typed it Wrong Oops”: Rafael Nadal Mixes up The White House with The US Capitol on Social Media

The Citi Open 2021 has kicked off in style, as top players from the sport, grace the courts of Washington. Among the big names, the one that stands out surely is that of the Spanish giant, Rafael Nadal. Making his return to the sport after, over a two-month-long break, fans wait ecstatically to see the maestro in action. However, even before stepping onto the court, he’s already making headlines on the internet.

Rafael Nadal often treats his Instagram followers to some breathtaking views, hiking in and around his hometown Mallorca. Similarly, parading through the streets of Washington, he documented his walk with some beautiful pictures. However, against his intentions, his innocence got the best of him. The ‘tourist’ shared a picture of himself, next to a great US monument, but misunderstood it to be something else. Fans were kind enough to help the former World No. 1 correct his mistake.

“Typo. Sorry. Had another one”- Rafael Nadal

Taking to his Instagram, the 20-time Grand Slam champion, shared a picture of himself, next to the US Capitol building. However, appearing for the first time in Washington, Rafael mistook the historic monument to be the Whitehouse. Alerted by fans, he rectified his error, further engaging in conversation with them.

As some followers spotted the legend’s mistake, the others took the opportunity to wish the maestro luck for the tournament. Responding to one of his Instagram’s ‘factual police’ fans, he said, “Typo. Sorry. Had another one but…” When another user said, “Love you Rafa but not the White house though,’ he responded, “Lapsus typing. My….”

Earlier this year, Rafael Nadal announced a sabbatical from the sport, giving his body some much-needed rest. The Spaniard disclosed his decision a little after his semi-final loss at the French Open. As a result, heartbroken fans missed seeing him in action at both the 2021 Wimbledon Championship and the mega-event, 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

However, rejuvenated and re-energized, Nadal has made a comeback to the court, appearing for the first time in the Citi Open 2021. With defending champion, Nick Kyrgios, has been eliminated from the tournament already, fans are backing the Spanish giant to run riot on-court. But doing so will not be completely easy, courtesy of the unprecedented break he had.
