“We Are Not Close Friends”: Rafael Nadal on Relationship With Roger Federer

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are truly two of the greatest tennis players in the history of the sport. Over the last 15 years, fans have been witnessing an intense rivalry between the two athletes. Apart from being rivals, the two are cordial off the court, which isn’t always the case between great rivals in sports. They not only respect each other but complement one another as well.

In a recent interview, World No.3 Rafael Nadal opened up about his relationship with Roger Federer. The Spaniard mentioned that he and Federer are great companions, and their relationship has improved over the years.

“We are very good companions and as the time went on, our relationship improved,” said Rafa in the interview.

Even though Nadal admitted that they are good companions, he also said that they are not really close to each other. He also mentioned that he would not share everything with him.

“We are not close friends, I would not tell him that my knee hurts before facing him!” added the Spaniard.

Even though Rafa claimed that they are not that close, he also revealed an interesting thing. According to him, the two can call each other anytime and speak about different things. Interestingly, Nadal had a chat with the Swiss maestro just today.

Federer and Rafa are both not playing at the ongoing Miami Open 2021. Fans believe that Federer will be fit by the upcoming clay-court season and they soon will be able to watch some more of ‘Fedal’ matches.
