14 Years After Carrying Serbia to Glory, Novak Djokovic Revisits the Moment Where He Forced His ‘Tennis Father’ to Go Bald

In addition to his long list of achievements on the tennis circuit, Novak Djokovic has also garnered a lot of attention in the sporting realm for some of his iconic celebrations. Even when Serbia won their first Davis Cup title, the current world No. 1 player pulled off a ‘head shave’ celebration on the court while he also made others, including his ‘tennis father’, do the same. Reminiscing about that moment, the ‘Djoker’ recently took to social media to share a heartfelt post.
In his latest Instagram story, the Serbian player revealed that he recently watched a premiere of the documentary about his childhood coach and ‘tennis father’, Nikola Pilić. While sharing a video clip of himself talking to Pilić during the event, Djokovic said, “Watched a premiere last night of the documentary about my tennis father- Niki Pilić the legend.”

During the screening of ‘Niki Pilic -The Legend,’ a video clip was played that showed the ‘Djoker’ getting his head shaved on the court as he celebrated his 2010 Davis Cup triumph. Every member of his team, including the advisor, Pilić, also went bald as they became a part of the iconic celebrations. As he recently went down memory lane, Djokovic shared a video clip of that moment and added the caption, “When Serbia won the @daviscup.”

This is not the first time that the Serb has recalled some of the great moments from his team’s brilliant triumph at the prestigious international tennis event. Even in a previous interview, Djokovic disclosed that shaving the heads was part of a ‘bet.’

Back in 2010, the Serbian player guided his country to their first title at this esteemed international tennis event as he clinched some important wins against the likes of Gael Monfils and John Isner. With his crucial contributions in the championship game, Serbia defeated France 3-2. Remising about the ‘great’ achievement in a conversation with the International Tennis Federation, the ‘Djoker’ revealed that a ‘head celebration’ was part of a bet if they won the Davis Cup title.
