“You Deserve It”: Dominic Thiem Hails Max Verstappen As He Stuns Lewis Hamilton To Win Formula One Championship

Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem is one of the rare players who managed to win a Grand Slam with the big three around. He was one of the first players who managed to register wins over the likes of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic.
Recently, Dominic Thiem was in the news again. Like most of the sporting world, the Austrian tennis star was glued to the Formula One race in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2021. The Yas Marina Circuit grabbed the attention of the entire world as Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton went toe-to-toe in a nail-biting finish.

The winner of the race was decided in the final lap when 2021 Formula One champion Max Verstappen overtook his rival and seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton. It will surely be remembered for ages and will go down in history as one of the best races ever.

The 2020 US Open champion was all praise for Max and stated, “Max, what an unbelievable race. So well done. What a sixth season it was, enjoy it you deserve it.” Not only Thiem, but World No. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas is a huge admirer of Max as well and was even present in Abu Dhabi in the Red Bull corner.

Coming to tennis, Thiem began his season in Australia. Sadly, he departed after losing in the fourth round to Grigor Dimitrov. It was a disappointment considering he was the finalist in 2020.

After that, he lost in the opening round at Roland Garros, which again was not a great sign as he has been a two-time finalist in the French capital. Soon after, he injured his wrist and missed the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open.
Well, he has now set his focus on the preparations for the 2022 season. He was scheduled to compete in the Mubadala World Tennis Championships but recently announced that he won’t be able to compete as he isn’t yet fit enough. Hopefully, the Austrian will be able to make his comeback as soon as possible.
