Nick Kyrgios was once again found in the mix of social media drama. The Aussie ace has been away from the game for quite some time now. He has only played one professional match all year and chances of the US Open participation look slim. However, injuries do not stop the notorious Australian from voicing his controversial opinions.

Kyrgios has a history of upsetting fans with his problematic takes. With his recent tweet, he has only added more to his unwanted collection of disrespectful opinions with his contempt towards the lower-ranked players. The Aussie eventually had to face the wrath of the rattled tennis fans on Twitter.

Twitterati lashes out at Nick Kyrgios

In the ongoing Umag Open, certain lower-ranked players are making good use of an open draw and making deep runs. When a reporter announced that Alexei Popyrin and Matteo Arnaldi would lock horns in the semi-finals, Kyrgios replied with a nasty comment. He replied saying, “Who are some of these players haha“.

By doing so, he did not just disrespect the players but also rattled the fans. Kyrgios was not getting away with it without facing the heat of the fans.

One fan fired back at Kyrgios and mocked the Aussie for not playing himself, unlike the ones who he is mocking.

Another fan suggested that the Umag semi-finalists would beat Kyrgios in a matchup.

Another Twitter user dragged Kyrgios by pointing out his underwhelming career achievements.

“They’re players who take tennis seriously, unlike you.“, said another user. Kyrgios was being mocked for not taking tennis seriously like the rest of the tour.

“Classless” and “unnecessary“, these two words are enough to describe the tweet.

Kyrgios was facing outrage for his narcissism and entitlement.

One fan suggested that Kyrgios should act his age not like a teenager.

“Can he just retire?“, Kyrgios’ regular disrespectful tweets forced a fan to wish for his retirement.

This wasn’t the first time Kyrgios has been disrespectful towards the lower-ranked players. He passed a similar comment during this year’s Australian Open.

Kyrgios’ lack of empathy for lower-ranked players

During the Australian Open, one section of the draw saw all the top seeds bow out early from the tournament. It meant that the tournament would see a lower-ranked semi-finalist. When the list of remaining players in that section of the draw was revealed, Kyrgios came up with a brutal taunt for those players. He said, “Nice little 250 going on.” indicating that the remaining players’ level was ATP 250 and not Grand Slams.
