‘You Need to Pray to Angels’ – 36-Year-Old Novak Djokovic’s Cryptic ‘Divine Intervention’ Message as He Guns for Invincible Grand Slam Glory at French Open 2023

Tennis stars are known for their bizarre match rituals. Serena Williams, for instance, ties her shoelaces in a particular manner and does not change her socks throughout the tournament. Similarly, Nadal always arranges his sports drinks and water bottles in a specific manner during his matches. However, among all the players, Novak Djokovic has received the most criticism for his peculiar match ritual. Before every service, he bounces the ball a number of times to the point of receiving warnings from the umpires. Another belief of his has entered the list recently.

The twenty-two times Grand Slam winner, after reaching the finals of Roland Garros for the seventh time, sat down for an interview with reporters. He talked about a variety of topics, including his semifinal opponent Carlos Alcaraz and his belief in a higher power.

The Serbian star spoke about how he ensures to visualize every match before playing. According to him, in order for something to happen, we need to visualize it first. He revealed that he had experienced it so many times and followed this religiously.

Djokovic believes in the right preparation. He said that 50% of the work ought to be done before setting foot on the court. Then it depends on the opponent, how well he plays, and a tinge of luck.

Sharing his views on the same, Djoker commented, “God is always there, you need to pray to angels for protection and help in some moments when you need a bit of luck.

The Roland Garros finalist also emphasized that “God can help only if we do our part of putting efforts. I am a big believer, I believe in divine intervention, but at the same time I believe that I am pulling the strings – it depends on me what my life will look like and the outcome of my matches.”

In the semi-final, Djokovic did his practice well, had the element of luck too, and nothing stopped him from reaching the finals. Now, he is on the cusp of creating history.

Speaking about the potential results of the final of Roland Garros, the Djoker said, “My preparation is very thorough and professional – even if I lose, I have no regrets, because I know I’ve done everything in my power to be the best.”

Speaking about Alcaraz, Djokovic told reporters that it was the first time for the US Open winner to be launched as a favorite against him. He opined that this might have caused the cramping and the nervousness behind it.
