When Ben Shelton reached his maiden quarter-final of the US Open, he owned the record for the fastest serve. But it was his winning act against his compatriot, Frances Tiafoe, that spread like wildfire in the sports community. Novak Djokovic, Lorenzo Musetti, and Fabio Fognini recreated the dialed-in show, and tennis fans lauded Shelton as the trendsetter. The celebration even impressed Roger Federer, as he thought it was quite original. But now, the iconic celebration has now escalated to another circuit circuit, too.

A Portuguese sibling duo introduced the celebration to their country after winning their first big ITF title. Their celebration attracted the attention of the young champion himself, and the American dropped his reaction as the siblings offered a glimpse of it.

Portuguese siblings Matilde Jorge and Francisca Jorge made it big at the W60 tournament on their home turf. The doubles duo won their first Caldas da Rainha ladies’ title by defeating the pair of America’s Ashley Lahey and China’s Fangra Tian. The young siblings dialed in their opponents and flexed their celebration on social media.

The younger Jorge sibling, Matilde, took to her Instagram account to post pictures of them dialing in. The 19-year-old captioned the post, @benshelton we’re dialled in 🤙🏽☎️.” Shelton responded to the post by commenting, “📞📞.” Young Jorge was swept off her feet with the response and reacted, “🥺🫶🏻,” to the World No.19’s recognition.

The unexpected universal phenomena made Shelton a champion and trailblazer for celebration enthusiasts. The act became famous for its originality, besides its uniqueness. Ironically, Shelton himself found inspiration in a Track and Field athlete, Grant Holloway. But the credit for making the dial-in a sensation goes to the American prodigy.

Shelton also repeated the global frenzy at the Laver Cup after defeating Arthur Fils. Fans who enjoyed Shelton’s act and defended him when Djokovic hung up on him took a dig at the American after his Laver Cup repetition, as they labeled it ‘annoying.’ Shelton was also trolled mercilessly for his appearance and was compared to the controversial tennis star.
