It’s a dream to watch two tennis legends come together at a Grand Slam event fighting for a title. And recently, a tweet resurfaced from the past, which once gave tennis fans hope of a dream-like collaboration between the two GOATs – The American tennis legend, Serena Williams, and the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, comes together as a mixed doubles pair at the Grand Slams.

Certainly, everyone would want to catch the two play as a mixed doubles team. And recently, a blast from the past has been doing rounds. Tennis fans have sought an answer from the 23-time Grand Slam champion about teaming up with the Swiss tennis legend.

Serena Williams and Roger Federer in mixed doubles?

Back in 2013, Serena Williams responded to a question posed by a fan page of her called #RenasArmy  on Twitter. She was interacting with the fans on #SerenaFriday, and the question was asked. Simultaneously, apart from Serena’s Tweet,  another famous Twitter thread was doing rounds back then.

In that, Roger Federer had expressed his wish to play mixed doubles with the ‘Queen of the Court’. And post the approval from the Swiss ace, #RenasArmy sought the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s answer. Asking the question, which every tennis fan had thought of when the two players were still active in the tennis circuit.

A member of her fanbase asked, “#RenasArmy is HERE! What is Ur response on Federer’s wish 2 play mixed doubles with u?”  To which the American tennis legend gave a positive and ‘dreamy’ answer.

She replied, “@VMselle I would love to play mixed with @rogerfederer too. But I guess I’m dreaming. I need that Aussie open mixed title!! #serenafriday“

Well, now both the players are off the court, after their illustrous and legendary on-court exploits. However, once both the players shared the same tennis court, but as opponents.
