Athletes often receive birthday wishes from renowned sporting accounts on their special day. Sometimes, they receive a birthday poster, while on some occasions a simple message may suffice. However, big athletes often receive throwback videos. Being arguably the biggest name in tennis, Roger Federer received many throwback clips from his career from popular media accounts. One such throwback broke everyone’s hearts as they were reminded of a rough day once again.
The Eurosport Twitter account took us back to the Swiss Maestro’s retirement day on his birthday. As emotional as the moment was, it was equally heartwarming and heart-wrenching at the same time. The fan reactions to the throwback clip saw some really affecting comments.

Fans react to an emotional Roger Federer throwback video
There were many memorable clips of the beloved former World No. 1 from the Laver Cup. However, the one posted by Eurosport did not include the likes of Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic. It was Federer sharing a moment with his wife Mirka and the kids right after the completion of his last dance, with Ellie Goulding singing in the background.

The post reminded fans once again of the bitter time when Roger Federer finally hung up his racket for good. This clip resurfacing on his birthday broke their hearts again.

The fan reactions revealed that Federer will always hold the same space in fans’ hearts even though he no longer shows his magic on the court. A mere throwback video of his retirement day ripped through people’s hearts and sent them weeping again. Even tennis professionals like Denis Shapovalov have had similar reactions to the mere mention of Federer’s retirement.
