The 2020 tennis season has been severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Many events were canceled and some like the US Open are being played without fans. Now, fans are wondering whether the Australian Open will break this chain and the reason involves Roger Federer.

The Swiss Maestro is almost 40 years old and 2021 could very well be his last year. He needs a proper send-off from his fans if that happens. However, the Tennis Australia chief is not too worried. He said,

“I’ve known Roger for a long time, and I think we’ll have a couple more years of Roger. I’ll certainly use that as motivation to encourage him to keep playing until we can give him a proper send-off in front of a full crowd. I don’t know if it will have much impact, but I’ll give it a go!”

For a long time now, Federer has been holding this record. However, his rivals, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are incredibly close to equaling him. He needs to extend his lead as soon as possible and he is planning to do it when he returns in 2021.
