Philippe Coutinho is on the radar

The first player they are looking at is former Premier League sensation, Philippe Coutinho. He is currently playing in Barcelona while the club faces an unprecedented financial debt. Hence, Barca might be open to off-loading players in the January transfer window which works in favor of Newcastle’s new owners.

Notably, the club wanted to sell the player in the summer, but there were not enough offers coming in. Thus, with the new ownership in place, Barcelona wants 50 million pounds for the player of the new management in England. The player was inducted into the PFA Team of the Year in 2015.

The move, however, does seem strange from Newcastle’s perspective. Coutinho has not enjoyed his time in Spain and has failed to impress in recent appearances.

The richest club in the world- Newcastle United

After this takeover, Newcastle United has the richest owners in the world. Having been bought for 300 million pounds, Mike Ashley’s torrid time has ended with the club. Now, the fans want success.

The club became the English Division champions back in 1927, and they won their last major piece of silverware in 1955. They have not won a game this season and lie 19th in the table.

Undoubtedly, players like Allan Saint-Maximin are the future of this club. However, with the potential arrival of Coutinho, a rebuilding process will be underway.

With Mbappe available in the summer, it would be a major coup if they can get that done. However, it does seem a bridge too far. What are your thoughts about Newcastle’s takeover?
