DeMar DeRozan’s recent performance seems to have caught everyone’s eye. With his name alongside greats like Wilt Chamberlain, it looks like Kevin Durant is among the impressed. The Brooklyn Nets star ended up tweeting to DeRozan, letting fans know that he holds DeRozan’s game to high standards.

DeRozan, who scored 38 points against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, is not the first player in the NBA to drop 35 points while shooting over 50% from the field for seven back-to-back games. The previous streak belonged to Chamberlain, who did it for six games in a row back in the 60s.

Of course, NBA fans had a lot to say about Durant’s comment. DeRozan’s feat is considered historic and has only made fans appreciate the Bulls star more.

Being truly impressed with DeRozan’s achievement, fans mostly agreed with Durant. Many added that both Durant and DeRozan were great, and it was always fun to watch them both play.

What remained impressive was the recent MVP chatter generated by DeRozan’s performance. By the looks of it, DeRozan is looking to immortalize his name as one of the best Bulls players ever. Even the fans have pointed out that he was outperforming Derrick Rose in his MVP season.

His efforts seem to be recognized by all, including Durant. The MVP talks are only a bonus to DeRozan’s already impressive season. He is currently scoring 28.1 points per game while shooting 51.7% from the field. Now, while DeRozan might not actually take home the MVP honor, he certainly deserves to be in the mix.

That being said, Joel Embiid, Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokic, and Ja Morant are a few other players already in the mix.

Sadly for Durant’s fans, it might be some more time before the 33-year-old returns to the court. Courtesy of his sprained MCL, Durant has been sidelined since the team’s 120-105 win against the New Orleans Pelicans in January. However, recent reports suggest that Durant can make a return following the All-Star break.

While it is a possibility, the Nets look determined to be patient with Durant’s recovery and might not give in to the risk.
