Russell Westbrook has had a bittersweet start to his career with the Lakers. Many experts questioned his fit with the team before the regular season even began. And now that he has played a few games in the purple and gold, experts and scouts have a better idea of his fit in the roster.

Unfortunately, they are not impressed with how Russell has played so far. Moreover, they have also seen whether the other star players have changed their games to support Russell’s fit in the team.

Scout reveals critical opinion of Westbrook’s fit with the Lakers

According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, a long-term NBA Scout has expressed his brutal opinions about the Lakers. He said, “To me, he’s best with the second unit, having the ball in his hands and pushing the pace. With (James), (Westbrook) will rebound and push it, but many times, no one runs with him… certainly not (James) or (Davis). He is a poor defender on a team full of poor defenders. Not a great fit there either.

“It is just a matter of time before the (Westbrook) volcano erupts. He is so passionate and being an LA kid, wants so badly to succeed.”

Further, he added, “I just don’t see it as a great fit. (James) and (Davis) are not changing the way they play, nor can they. I predict a 5-7 seed and first-round exit in the playoffs.”

What does this mean for Russell Westbrook?

The scout is right about Westbrook running the offense better with the second unit. However, he is forgetting that LeBron and Davis are also only adjusting with playing off the ball. Westbrook is clearly the primary playmaker for this team. Therefore, if anyone, it should be Davis and LeBron who should be criticized for not keeping up.

Nevertheless, this prediction is a ‘hard to swallow pill’ for the Lakers fans. Do you think the scout is right in predicting a first round exit for the Lakers?
