Sam Smith reveals why Michael Jordan never shouted at Scottie Pippen

Sam Smith, the author of ‘The Jordan Rules’, gave an interview to Chicago Tribune in 2020. During the interview, he revealed that Pippen was ‘sensitive’ and that is why Jordan didn’t lash out at him.

“You couldn’t openly demean Pippen because he was so sensitive,” Sam Smith said. “You saw it in the playoffs and even later in the salary issues that he felt disrespected. Horace was going to be a Marine if not a basketball player; that’s why he was so close with Johnny Bach, the military guy. Michael knew that he could take it out on Horace, even if Horace didn’t like it, because Horace could take it where he couldn’t do that with Scottie.”

“Phil took advantage of that too. If he wanted to yell at Scottie, he yelled at Horace, and Scottie kind of got the message.”

Indeed, it’s hard to manage a dressing room full of star players such as Jordan, Pippen, and Grant among others. However, it was Phil Jackson who managed the team for around a decade and won six championships.
