With the loss to Sacramento Kings, the Los Angeles Lakers marked their sixth consecutive loss in the pre-season. This is the team that is supposed to be the favorite to win the Western Conference title. It’s surprising to see them not come out with a single victory in the pre-season. Especially when their roster is stacked with all-star talent, including LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Among other all-star caliber talents, Russell Westbrook and LeBron James both missed a few games before starting their pre-season campaigns. However, Anthony Davis has played every game in the pre-season, including the opener against the Nets. And unfortunately, he has not performed up to the caliber that is expected from him.

Are the Los Angeles Lakers still LeBron James’ team?
Coming into the regular season, there was a strong rumor that LeBron James will take a back seat on the court in terms of his play on the ball. This led to the discussion of who will be the primary playmakers and main scorers of the team. While the primary playmaker would naturally be Russell Westbrook in LeBron’s absentia, the main scorer was the matter of concern.
Several experts felt Anthony Davis will have to step up on the opportunity and fulfill that role as the primary scorer. However, his performance in the pre-season has created doubts in the minds of many supporters of the team. So does that mean LeBron’s change this season will come from being the primary playmaker to being the primary scorer? Does his physicality still support that role? In his performance against the Kings, he surely showed that he still has what it takes to dominate on the scoring end.

However, we can say one thing for certain. LeBron is extremely good at adapting to the required roles in any franchise he plays on. He is certainly going to be the leader on the court for the Lakers. The Lakers will have to rely on his consistency to lead them into the playoffs. The Lakers are undoubtedly still LeBron’s team.
