LeBron James is in the 19th season of his career. Just 3 more seasons away from breaking yet another NBA record which might be unbeatable. And he himself has hoped to see through his career, long enough to break that record. But we’ll come to that later.
LeBron James has a contract until the end of 2022-23 season with the Lakers. And as mentioned before, he hopes to play longer in the league. Moreover, he doesn’t seem to have the physical drawbacks with the coming of age.

It’s like the laws of biology and physics don’t apply to James. Therefore, he’s clearly set to break Vince Carter’s record of most seasons played in the NBA. However an NBA expert and founder of Ringer, Bill Simmons feels he might not retire as a Laker.

Contrary to what James himself claimed a few months ago? Lakers and most NBA fans didn’t seem to agree with him.

Does LeBron James really want to leave the Lakers?

At the beginning of the season, LeBron James expressed he would like to retire as a Laker. So if he gets another extension beyond his contract, he would naturally love for it to be with the Lakers. However, Bill Simmons’ comments really beckon the question “Is LeBron really happy with the Lakers?”

The Lakers have clearly not met the expectations of what experts predicted as the outcome of building a Super Team. And with Davis set to miss a month due to injury, one really wonders about the Lakers’ championship ambitions this season. With Westbrook rumored to be on his way out, will LeBron also request a trade back to Cleveland?

As possible as that may sound, it’s almost absurd to imagine that LeBron will request a trade to Cleveland. First, he’s not the kind to leave a team high and dry. And even though he has already won a championship with the Lakers, he certainly has more goals with the Lakers franchise. He has clearly expressed that he and his family are happy in Los Angeles. Have we ever known LeBron to run from a challenge? If he requests a trade, it would forever dent his legacy. Therefore, would he risk doing that? Seems unlikely.
