During the warmups for the ice rhythm dancing competition at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, Team USA and Team ROC nearly collided on the rink. Thankfully, neither of the duos sustained any injuries. However, they shared a stare as fans held their breath, glad nothing untoward happened thereafter.

Team USA, led by Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue, were among the competitors warming up ahead of the competitions. Notably, the Russian Olympic Committee’s Nikita Katsalapov and Victoria Sinitsina were also out on the rink at the same time. During their warmups, the two almost crashed into each other, leaving onlookers on the edge of their seats.

Close call at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022

The warmups saw Team ROC and Team USA come close to hitting each other. ROC’s Nikita Katsalapov was practicing with her partner when she almost collided with Team USA’s Zachary Donohue. With quick reflexes and thinking, Donohue avoided any major contact. Raising tensions, however, this was a reminder that the Olympics had well and truly begun.

The NBC commentators, however, downplayed any false intentions as they gave their take on the commentary. Apart from a normal and natural incident, nothing untoward happened during that moment. However, it was a smart move from Donohue, who avoided the skater.

Qualification results

The team of Hubbell and Donohue ended up being ranked number one in the qualifying event. ROC’s team, however, finished last in the competition. There are many top contenders in the rhythm dance competition and all of them look to win the gold medal.
