Notably, there will two special people who will lead the country during the Parade of Nations. One of them is curling legend, John Shuster.

USA’s curling star, John Shuster, will walk alongside Brittany Bowe by hoisting the United States of America’s national flag for the Olympic Games. Usually, curlers don’t get the opportunity to do this. But, it’s a welcome change for everyone involved. Shuster, in the meantime, called up his family members to break the news, who were beyond ecstatic, to say the least.

As his teammate broke the news to Shuster, he looked surprised and shared his astonishment with his family back home.

“I have some news for you. I have been chosen to carry the flag for the United States,” said Shuster to his family.

An emotional Shuster talked about being the flag-bearer for his country as his wife poured tears of joy, processing the moment of history. Truly, it is extremely rare to see the men’s curling team captain, leading the way for his country. But hopefully, this could help the popularity and growth of the sport.
