WATCH: China Pays Tribute to John Lennon at Opening Ceremony of Beijing Winter Olympics 2022

There are some songs that are timeless and forever stay in our minds. Whenever they come on screens or the radio, people listen and sing along with wide smiles. Be it Bohemian Rhapsody, Stairway to Heaven, or Wish You Were Here, people keep listening to these masterpieces. The Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 are underway as one of these classics, Imagine by John Lennon, played during the opening ceremony.

In addition, this is not the first time that the song featured at the Olympics. During the 2012 London Summer Olympics, Lennon’s melody played in the London stadium.

The Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 are officially open

The glittering opening ceremony filled the night skies of China with the luminous bulbs and fireworks. During an infographic video of skiing, the organizers gave a tribute to Lennon’s stunning song. With performers mimicking skiing on the ground, it was a sight to behold.

China definitely puts up with some of the best opening ceremonies of all time. During the 2008 Beijing Olympics, people could not believe the colorful and vibrant performances displayed in the stadium. In the same way, the Winter Olympics have started with a bang.

Lennon released the famous solo back in 1971. The song focuses on preaching peace, living a non-materialistic life, and shutting down anger or violence in the world. It was one of the best-selling songs in the world, and people still listen to it daily.

A cheerful opening ceremony

After the pandemic forced Tokyo Olympics to be held behind closed doors, it is a welcome change to see fans in attendance. Normalcy being restored during these trepid times is a welcome sight for everyone.
