Usman Nurmagomedov is coming off a dominant victory at Bellator 269. The Russian fighter took on Patrik Pietila and made quick work of his opponent. He took him to the ground early, mauled him, and slipped in a rear-naked choke in the very first round, which led to Pietila submitting.

However, according to Usman, his cousin Khabib Nurmagomedov wasn’t too happy with his performance. ‘The Eagle’ was in his cousin’s corner for the fight and was giving him instructions from outside. After the fight, the former UFC lightweight champion said that his cousin needed to work on a few things.

In the post-fight presser, Usman said, “There were a couple of moments when he told me to do something, and I didn’t do that. So afterwards in the locker room, he told me once again what I did wrong. But we will sort it out.”

Usman Nurmagomedov believes Khabib can be even better at coaching than fighting

According to Khabib’s cousin Usman, the former UFC fighter can be a better coach than he was a fighter. The undefeated fighter is also Khabib’s training partner and knows that side of him very well.

In the buildup to his fight against Pietila, Usman was asked about the coaching skills of ‘The Eagle.’ Via a translator, he said, “Yeah, I believe that Khabib can definitely take that path. And whatever he’s putting his mind to, usually and normally, he achieves that. And in this case, I believe that he can definitely be a better coach than he is a fighter.”

Usman is not the only fighter training with the 29-0 legend. Islam Makhachev tipped to be the future of UFC’s lightweight division, also trains with Khabib. According to the former UFC champ, Makhachev is going to dominate the division, and there’s nobody on his level at the moment.

Makhachev will take on Dan Hooker at UFC 267, and a win against him will definitely make him a title contender.
