Billie Jean King Lends Support to Rafael Nadal After He Calls Off Season 2021

Rafael Nadal will go down as one of the greatest players in the history of the Tennis. He’s achieved wonders in the sport and has created records that would be difficult to match up. Besides, he has maintained elite-levels consistently at the top for well over a decade.
Recently, Rafael Nadal announced that he has decided to skip the US Open and end his season. The reason is a niggling foot injury from which he hasn’t fully recovered. It has been bothering him since the French Open this year.

On hearing the news of him ending the season, former great Billie Jean King felt sorry for the Spaniard and sent some words of support. She wished for the Spaniard to recover soon and to see him fully fit once the next season begins. She tweeted, “Sending you our love and support, @RafaelNadal. Feel better soon, and we are already looking forward to seeing you in 2022.”

Reflecting on Nadal’s season, he began competing in Melbourne and came as far as the quarterfinal at the Australian Open. After that, he was rejuvenated for the clay season and won titles in Rome and Barcelona.

Sadly, he was unable to defend his French Open title after going down to Novak Djokovic in the semifinal. He then decided to skip the Wimbledon Championships as well as the Tokyo Olympics.
He was seen in Washington earlier this month but lost in the early stages of the event. Following which, he returned in order to treat himself. Now that he has ended the season, we wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him competing on the tennis courts once again.
