“It Does Not Happen Overnight”: After 11 Years of Consistent Hustle, 71-Year-Old Ripped Grandma Defies All Odds to Prepare for Her 7th Show

Renee Landers, a known bodybuilder now, suffered from back ache in 2010, which made her land on the surgery table to correct her lower lumbar fusion condition. That was the game changer for the now 71-year-old grandma who hired a trainer to become fit. Ever since she carved a niche in the bodybuilding community for herself by competing with bodybuilders a couple of decades younger than her.

After training for many years, Landers kickstarted her bodybuilding career by competing at the age of 69 years. In a recent Instagram post, she writes about her inspiring journey to encourage women to take up fitness irrespective of age.

Sharing an Instagram reel where she could be seen flaunting her super fit physique at 71, Landers is desperate to watch her tribe enjoy the fruits of fitness as she does. She captioned the post, “LADIES, It is never too late. It is a mindset!” addressing her new followers, whom she wants to influence through her actions.

The grandma revealed that her present physique is an output of a strength training journey of 11 years and is based on healthy food, hard work, and weights. ” I am doing this so I can be healthy and strong for as long as possible! I want to keep enjoying my life, dancing, cruising, traveling the world, opening my own jars, and enjoying my grandkids!” Landers gleefully list all the things she can do because of her healthy and fit body without being a victim of old-age issues. 

Giving the timeline of her bodybuilding journey, the Texas woman bodybuilder wrote, 

At 58, I had a lower lumbar fusion;

at 60, I started lifting,

at 69 I entered my first bodybuilding competition.”

The senior bodybuilder is currently gearing up to pose for her 7th show and urges her followers to take up their fitness journey irrespective of age. She also suggests her fans to workout under supervision which brings more commitment to the journey. Lastly, she clarifies she isn’t a coach and writes, “It does not happen overnight, but it is never too late to start! NOW GO GET STARTED!

The grandma focuses on diet for her bodybuilding physique

Landers says that her diet regime is crucial in her bodybuilding career. “I was working out for years and didn’t get any abs,” she said, per Metro, UK. The old lady relies on fish instead meat for her protein intake as she is a pescatarian. 

She doesn’t compromise her protein intake and consumes it five times a day. And her dedication brought her 6th place in her debut bodybuilding competition.
