Late last month perennial Classic Physique Olympia contender Urs Kalecinski drummed up some controversy. The two-time Olympia bronze medalist said that while Chris Bumstead has dominated the stage for five years, he plans to change that. “I’m the guy. I’m going to prove that at the end of the year,” said the bodybuilding sensation.

However, his statement stirred controversy as former Classic Physique Olympia runner-up Terrence Ruffin responded. Ruffin didn’t believe the Miracle Bear had what it took to dethrone Chris Bumstead. CBum remained silent during the drama. However, the five-time Classic Physique champion has spoken about the upcoming Mr. Olympia contest.

The reigning King of Classic Physique posted a picture of his physique from the 2023 Mr. Olympia. In the image, Chris Bumstead was hitting the abs and thighs pose. “Proud of this look last year, but we can do better,” wrote the modern-day bodybuilding icon. While Chris Bumstead took time off and was busy greeting his first child into the world he is now laser-focused.

The reigning champion has been suffering injuries during every Olympia prep for the last few years. So, he took some time off and linked up with new trainer Justin King to rehab the chronic aftereffects of his old injuries. The bodybuilder also took some extended time off from training. However, Bumstead is back with a vengeance, with only a few months left till the 2024 Olympia.

Chris Bumstead also liked to stay away from controversy. So, while Kalecinski announced he would beat Bumstead this year, he didn’t respond. The five-time champion is confident in his abilities and is preparing to fend off two other prime challengers besides Kalecinski.

Chris Bumstead will face his biggest challenge yet

While Chris Bumstead has dominated the Classic Physique Olympia stage for half a decade, the bodybuilding icon has his work cut out for him. Urs Kalecinski and Ramon Dino have nipped at his heels for the last two years. While everyone thought that this year, Dino and Kalecinski would battle it out for the 224 Arnold Classic Physique title, the 2023 seventh-place finisher pulled off an upset for the ages. Vissers defeated Dino to become the Arnold Classic champion and then repeated the feat at the Arnold Classic UK. So now, Chris Bumstead has to face not two but three elite challengers to his throne.

However, despite the challenge, the bodybuilding icon remains undeterred. Chris Bumstead has taken the time he needed, and his only goal is to beat everyone on the Olympia stage to earn his sixth Classic Physique title. However, what did you feel about Kalecinski’s challenge? Tell us in the comments.
