There is a myth in the bodybuilding world that correlates soy consumption with increased levels of estrogen in male Bodybuilders. This is because of the presence of phytoestrogens in soy products that structurally resemble estrogen. However, they have wildly different effects on the human body.

In the latest version of his daily Newsletter, Arnold’s Pump Club, Arnold Schwarzenegger finally provided fans with some applied research. He revealed that consuming soy hardly has any impact on male sex hormones.

Arnold Schwarzenegger highlights the importance of including soy in your diet

According to a recent analysis of 41 studies, as revealed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, it was found that even if a male bodybuilder consumes soy in very high amounts regularly, instead of impacting the levels of it, they only have potential protective benefits. These benefits are collective for both men and women.

However, that is not the sole reason why you must include it in your diet. He wrote, “Studies suggest that a soy-heavy, vegan diet supports muscle growth and strength just as much as an omnivorous way of life. When compared head-to-head, soy appears to be just as beneficial.” He also mentioned that the fact that phytoestrogens cause significant changes in the hormones, has not yet been proven.

Rather, soy is a very safe diet option. It contains a great amino acid profile. This can be immensely beneficial for someone who is trying to refrain from animal protein, dairy, or even eggs. Further in the Newsletter, the 7X Mr. Olympia champion even pointed out research that establishes how walking for 30 minutes a day can help in fighting memory loss.

Arnie pointed out another research that stated that walking can strengthen your brain. The study was performed on older adults, and it was discovered that those who walk for at least 30 minutes daily have improved memory, connectivity, and creativity. A regular walk, which is the basic level of minimal cardio, helps in enhancing blood flow to the brain.

This strengthens ‘network connectivity’, and that is how different regions in the brain interact with each other. He also adds, “But that’s not all: walking also appears to increase BDNF, a protein that helps your neurons survive — and generate new ones — for a healthier brain.” According to Arnold Schwarzenegger, walking prevents a lot of serious diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia and it must be a part of your daily routine if you aim to live a healthy life.
