The bodybuilding and fitness realms are filled with many differing ideas, and one of those ideas revolves around the time of exercise. But what if the legend of the bodybuilding realm, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is here to simplify it all for the layman out there? The seven-time Mr. Olympia always makes his claims with evidence-based research, and this time he is back again with one more study.

In the latest edition of the Austrian Oak’s newsletter, Arnold’s Pump Club, he debunked a common myth and shared the optimal key to losing weight and staying on the right track. Let’s find out what Arnie has to offer this time.

After looking at the results of a recent meta-analysis, Arnie shared that there is no optimal time to lose your fat especially when it comes to cardio. He wrote, “The scientists found that the timing of exercise did not influence fat loss.” Schwarzenegger emphasized that “exercise consistency matters much more than the time you work out.” Exercising at different times has its own benefits. Arnie elucidated the benefits of exercising both in the morning and evening.

Studies support both timings for exercises. Some of the research supports that working out in the morning makes you consistent, and as Schwarzenegger highlighted, consistency is the key to your success. On the other hand, some of the studies show that working out in the evening gives you a boost in your strength and power. Some studies even showcased results that blew everyone’s mind. The results found that men have better results if they work out in the evening, while women get better results if they work out in the morning.

Schwarzenegger concluded by sharing a note. He wrote, “I always tell you not to overthink or let perfect get in the way of progress. If training in the morning is the time that makes you most likely to train, do it. If training at lunch is when you’re most likely to train, do it. If training in the evening is the time you’re most likely to train, do it. Just train. That’s all I ask.

This is not the first time the seven-time Mr. Olympia has expressed his thoughts on fat loss. Earlier, he unveiled the two best cardio workouts for fat loss.

Arnold Schwarzenegger believes consistency is the key

In the previous edition of Arnie’s newsletter, he talked in detail about HIIT (high-intensity cardio) and lower-intensity cardio. Continuing further, he elucidated the difference between both workouts. Research has shown that both HIIT and lower-intensity cardio have equal effects on your fat loss goals. The HIIT workout plan consumes less time, and the lower-intensity cardio requires more time to finish up. It’s up to your choice, but Schwarzenegger has more to add to it.

Consistency is king. The activities you do repeatedly will deliver results. So you can spend all day optimizing, but what matters is consistent work and effort. That means selecting programs that best match your behaviors, routines, and lifestyle,” explained the seven-time Mr. Olympia.

Despite the results, Schwarzenegger emphasized being consistent toward your goal. If you want to lose fat, you can opt for any of the plans and perform your workout whenever you want. But the key to your success is being consistent. Will you become consistent after learning the importance of being consistent? Let us know in the comments.
