The Super Bowl is almost upon us, and with it comes the Super Bowl commercials. While brands went the extra mile to make their high-profile TV spot during the Super Bowl count, Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking it to a different level this year. The 76-year-old Hollywood action icon is set to star in a commercial for State Farm that’s being treated as a movie. Arnie’s co-star and vocal coach explained that they didn’t take the project lightly.

In fact, Agent State Farm is getting a marketing campaign like a feature-length film despite being just 60 sec long. Schwarzenegger’s co-star Jake from State Farm, aka Kevin Miles, released a video on Instagram saying how the duo learned Pilates. However, these weren’t your regular Pilates, but “vocal Pilates”. Miles explained how it helped.

Arnold Schwarzenegger did the reps

In a behind-the-scenes video from the set of Agent State Farm, Jake sat outside his trailer and spoke about vocal warmups. “Arnold (Schwarzenegger) and I did a lot of Pilates. Well, vocal Pilates,” Miles said in the video. He then performed some vocal Pilates for the camera. The actor said he and Arnie repeatedly uttered words like “red leather, yellow leather… Good neighbor,” and more.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a believer that practice makes perfect. The former Mr. Olympia often treats challenges like weightlifting. Throughout his Hollywood career, The Terminator treated the process of acting like repping dumbbell curls in the gym. Schwarzenegger rehearsed every aspect of the role to ensure he didn’t falter on camera.

The duo approached Agent State Farm with a similar mindset. Kevin Miles explained that they not only performed vocal warmups but applied the principle of progressive overload. Just like bodybuilders lift increasingly heavier weights in the gym, the duo performed progressively faster reps of their vocal Pilates.

An unmissable opportunity

While talking to Jimmy Kimmel, Arnold Schwarzenegger explained that he did not want to miss the opportunity to act with Jake from State Farm. “One of the reasons I wanted to do this was to work with Jake because he is a great actor,” the True Lies star told Jimmy Kimmel. However, Arnie also said that vocal Pilates isn’t the only thing the duo did.

The 76-year-old fitness icon said he had to get Kevin Miles in shape for the role. The Austrian Oak explained that while Agent State Farm might be only 60 seconds long, it has everything. Arnie claimed it has explosions, action, and even special effects. However, the audience needs to wait until 11th February to see how effective the vocal Pilates turned out to be.
