Bodybuilder With Down Syndrome Reveals Three Ultimate “Life-Changing Lessons” Learnt From Mike O’Hearn

Canadian bodybuilder Kyle Landi, who has Down syndrome, has been defying odds and inspiring people with his determination and resilience. Recently, Landi shared a glimpse of his workout session with the bodybuilding icon Mike O’Hearn, while revealing some lessons valuable he learned from the latter.
In a video shared on his Instagram, Landi showcased his dedication as O’Hearn supported and encouraged him during their training session. The 55-year-old bodybuilding Adonis, also joined in, demonstrating a few reps of a seated behind-the-neck shoulder presses.
But it wasn’t just about the physical workout. Landi took to heart the wisdom imparted by O’Hearn, emphasizing “three life-changing lessons.” Landi expressed gratitude, in the post caption. He summarized these lessons as follows: “Average is the enemy,” “Success is my responsibility,” and “Change happens when I become willing to flip the switch.”

Landi’s determination and hard work are not just about lifting weights; it’s about overcoming hurdles and striving for excellence. According to his caption, he is preparing to take the stage as a guest poser at the NPC Pittsburgh event. He wrote, “We are one week out from taking the stage as a guest poser @npcifbbpropittsburgh and we could be more excited….”

His journey exemplifies the triumph of the human spirit and the potential within each of us to defy expectations. Despite the health hindrance, it did not deter Kyle Landi from making history as the first bodybuilder with Down syndrome to compete in a bodybuilding event.

Earlier, the 24-year-old fondly recalled his inaugural victory. Sharing the pivotal moment on Instagram, Landi expressed gratitude to the media for capturing the unforgettable scenes from the Pure Muscle Championships 2023. The images depict Landi basking in triumph, raising his arm victoriously while clutching a trophy and wearing a medal around his neck.

Reflecting on that remarkable night, Landi recalled sharing the stage with esteemed figures in the bodybuilding world, including Canadian veteran Antoine Vaillant and rising star Quinton ‘Quint Beastwood’ Eriya. However, the highlight of the event was undoubtedly the opportunity to pose alongside former Arnold Classic champion and Mr. Olympia Bronze medalist Nick Walker.
