Hafthor Bjornsson is less than a month away from his much-awaited Arnold Classic return. The world-renowned strongman suffered a horrific pec tear last April while training to get back into the competitive arena. While the injury and subsequent surgery certainly hampered his prep, Brjornsson is leaning into his strengths for the Arnold Classic 2024, namely the deadlift.

The 410 lbs left the strongman arena for a successful stint as a boxer where he won the grudge match with rival Eddie Hall. However, gone is the lean and mean boxer’s physique. In his latest update, the World’s Strongest Man winner looked massive as he did some mind-boggling deadlifts. His impressive strength left fans in disbelief yet again.

After suffering the pec tear, many thought Hafthor Bjornsson would take a long time to recover. While the 6’9 strongman might not compete against others in the bench press, he is going all out on the deadlift. Bjornsson was among the few men to clear the 1000 lbs barrier. Despite the injury, it seems the WSM winner has gotten even stronger as he deadlifted 1000.9 lbs during training.

In the video, the Icelander started with a 133 kg (293 lbs) deadlift and went all the way up to a whopping 454kg (1000.9 lbs). What’s even more impressive is that the 35-year-old did what strongmen and powerlifters called raw lifts. Hafthor Bjornsson didn’t use wrist wraps or a lifting suit, just raw Icelandic strength. While some fans pointed out that eternal rival Eddie Hall did a similar challenge faster, others pointed out that Bjornsson lifted more than Hall. Most fans were shocked to see the Arnold Classic Strongman winner regain his strength and size so quickly.
