The 255th edition of the Arnold Pump Club Newsletter deals with protein intake. Arnie used evidence-backed research so that netizens could follow a sustainable path to fitness.

Various information is floating around protein. While some hail its strength and muscle enhancement qualities, others say it causes “kidney issues and lessens lifespan.” The Terminator puts all doubts to rest once and for all using scientific knowledge. He wrote in the newsletter, “A recent study offers more retribution: research suggests that high-protein diets do not increase the likelihood of cardiovascular disease.” Furthermore, the former governor supports including protein in the diet through another study that highlights a positive relationship between health and its consumption.

However, the former Mr. Olympia winner suggests choosing the right source of protein that is low in saturated fat. He also advises to include “plant and fiber” to achieve the essential nutritional dose. The former Statesman leads by example. During his bodybuilding days, the Austrian Oak consumed large quantities of protein. However, with age, his diet has drastically changed. 

Schwarzenegger has turned partly vegan 

The fitness icon had to go through three major heart surgeries in his lifetime. He suffers from a congenital heart issue. Moreover, excessive training to achieve herculean size also contributed to his fledgling health. Determined to take control of life, the aesthetic hero turned 80 percent vegan.

In the Arnold Pump Club Podcast, he revealed, “For protein, my staples are eggs, salmon, and chicken. But I have more and more veggie burgers with lentils and beans.” Schwarzenegger further added, “In the morning after my workout, I usually have oatmeal with Greek yogurt or granola. For lunch, I always have a salad, sometimes with a plant-based burger or maybe salmon or chicken. Other times, it’s with a scramble or omelet. For dinner, I always have soup. I like to eat light for my last meal.”
