Reigning Classic Physique icon Chris Bumstead has become a father at 29. The modern-day bodybuilding icon waited for the moment since his fiancee Courtney King surprised him with her pregnancy news. However, the champion also jokingly lamented a missed opportunity to name his firstborn.

The Canadian bodybuilding champion announced the arrival of his baby girl on Saturday, 27th April. However, Bumstead saw the light of day for the first time on 22nd April 2024. After announcing the news on social media, CBum left a hilarious comment on his own post.

“She didn’t let me go with Blastoise,“ the five-time Classic Physique Olympia champion wrote. You may be wondering what’s a Blastoise. Well, Blastoise is one of the three iconic starter Pokemon from the first season of the iconic Japanese anime. Chris Bumstead is so fond of the 1997 series that he wanted to name his firstborn after it.

CBum first brought the idea to the table during a Q&A video with Courtney King on 31st March. During the Q&A video, the couple answered some fan questions about their pregnancy and life moving forward. When the couple discussed their baby girl’s name, Bumstead voiced his desire to name his child after the water-type Pokemon.

However, Courtney King immediately shot down the idea after she learned what Blastoise means. The five-time Classic Physique Olympia champion didn’t forget about it and lamented in the comments section. Fans also went along with the joke, with Bumstead’s comment receiving over 62,000 reactions.

Over 400 bodybuilding icon’s fans replied to the champion’s comment. Most suggested Chris Bumstead to try a different Pokemon name for their second child. However, the couple has something else to take care of before having another baby.

The reigning Classic Physique Olympia and former Bikini Ms. Olympia have been engaged to one another for a while. The couple revealed in their YouTube Q&A session that they didn’t plan to have a baby right now. In fact, Courtney King said that they had even picked out a venue for their wedding.

However, shortly after choosing the venue, King discovered she was pregnant and surprised her fiance. So the couple postponed the wedding. However, with the birth of Bradley Shay Bumstead, Chriss Bumstead and Courtney King plan to get married. Yet, King is open to having another child. King admitted she will “miss“ being pregnant in her final update before the birth. “@cbum can we do this again!? (after we get married this time),“ she added to the post.

So, while Chris Bumstead pretended to feel sad about the missed opportunity, he is happy to step into the next chapter of his life. The defending champion is also back in the gym training to defend his title and become a six-time champion.
