Days After the Release of His Documentary, Phil Heath Expresses Gratitude Towards His Wife: “This Is My Ride or Die Man”

Having a great partner throughout your journey plays a crucial role, be it in bodybuilding or in life. Phil Heath, the seven-time Mr. Olympia champion, recently had a documentary about him released which shed light on the unseen aspects of his bodybuilding journey.

In a recent podcast on the YouTube channel, True Geordie Heath talked about how his wife was there for him despite all that they had to go through together. Heath further delved into how his wife was the reason he could overcome many struggles and make it this far.

I give her a ton of credit,” says Heath, revealing how his wife Shurie Heath also suffered extreme challenges in her life. According to Heath, Shurie had breast implant illness and autoimmune issues. She even gained 60 pounds from a mold in her implants. Despite facing all these issues, she was there for the seven-time Olympia champion, making his meals and pushing him to go to the gym.

We’re husband and wife, but, like, real, when someone says, this my partner, oh yeah, this is my ride or die, man, like this is this is my mate,” Heath explained.

The former bodybuilder was married to Jennie Laxson before he married Shurie. He commented on how Shurie transformed his life completely, saying, “I was married once before, and it was just not the same; clearly, I mean, people could see; I mean, people have told me they’re like dude, like, it’s completely changed your life, and I’m like. Absolutely!

Being a pro bodybuilder requires a lot of sacrifices. The 44-year-old former bodybuilder had earlier revealed other obstacles he had faced in his personal life.

In the same podcast, the seven-time Mr. Olympia talked about how he was not able to get any spare time for his personal life amidst the race for success. Heath had a dearth of time to spend with friends and relax. 

“I just want to chill; I just want to hang out; I just want to know what it feels like to have a summer to myself. To hang out with my friends and I just want to know what it feels like to go to a birthday party. A kids party with my friends hold them up and play.” I want to know what it feels like going on a summer vacation,” Heath lamented.

Heath’s experience demonstrates how pro-bodybuilding requires much more effort than one would ever think. However, owing to the support of his close ones and his partner, Heath was able to push through his struggles and reach the pinnacle of success.
