However, her path to superstardom hasn’t been obstacle-free. In 2015, Gomez announced she had struggled with Lupus, a rare disease where the immune system turns against the body it’s supposed to protect. The incurable disease has severely affected her health, fitness, and quality of life.

Over the years, Gomez has taken breaks to deal with the disease. The singer has gone through chemotherapy and a kidney transplant. Recently, the 24-year-old daughter of another titan of the music industry opened up about her lupus diagnosis. While she hasn’t required surgical procedures like Gomez, Snoop Dogg’s daughter has turned to fitness to manage the symptoms.

Embracing fitness has made her feel better than ever

Lupus is a chronic, incurable disease. Hence, patients like Selena Gomez and Cori Broadus have to spend their lives managing symptoms and dealing with the effects. However, some positive lifestyle changes help manage the symptoms. In a recent interview with People Magazine, Cori Broadus said she turned to fitness to help her manage lupus.

Broadus explained she was diagnosed at six, led a detrimental lifestyle, and had to take 10 to 12 pills to stay functional. However, around five months ago, she turned he life around and shunned bad habits and her pills. “I started working out, drinking lots of water,” said Snoop Dogg’s daughter. The 24-year-old regularly works out with her fiance and their trainer. “My body is not achy,” said Broadus.

Despite thinking she would run into joint problems, fitness has improved her quality of life. The 24-year-old was surprised how her joint aches went away after taking up fitness. However, it’s not smooth sailing all the time. “I have days where I’m sick, but I’m still blessed and able to do what I love to do and to tell my story,” she told People.

There are still aspects Cori Broadus aims to improve

While having a regular fitness regimen has helped, the rap legend’s daughter plans to fix other aspects. During the interview, she explained that while she works out regularly, some aspects of her lifestyle are still detrimental. Cori Broadus said she struggles with her diet and recovery.

The 24-year-old said she still “eats terribly” and often doesn’t get enough rest to recover from her regular workout sessions. However, she realizes that such habits might cause problems in the future and is looking for ways to make a change. “We’re going to get there,” said Broadus. Selena Gomez and Cori Broadus have their struggles. However, in showing their vulnerable sides, they’ve inspired others with autoimmune conditions to fight for their health.
