“Deadlift King”: Game of Thrones Famed Hafthor Bjornsson’s 683 Lbs Deadlift Leaves Lifting Community in Awe

There is only one name that comes to most bodybuilding enthusiasts’ minds when they think of immense strength, and it is none other than the former World’s Strongest Man title holder, Hafthor Bjornsson. Bjornsson has been on a hot roll this year after his return from a pectoral injury-induced hiatus. He has made a significantly quick recovery within a year and even participated in the Arnold Classic 2024.
Recently, the man who played The Mountain in Game of Thrones, posted a video of him deadlifting. Bjornsson gave a sneak peek of his training, which he was engaging in for an upcoming show that will see him compete with the best in the Strongman circuit.
Bjornsson is just fifteen weeks out

In the video uploaded by the former strongest man, he was seen lifting a staggering weight of 683 pounds and doing seven easy reps. Before lifting, Bjornsson took his time, maintained a proper form, and then started. As usual, Bjornsson made the lift look like child’s play.

Bjornsson is currently training with the Australian Strength Coach Sebastian Oreb, who had earlier posted a video of the former strongest man doing another lift a few days ago. Earlier, the Icelandic strongman did eight comfortable reps of 639 pounds. The Australian Strength Coach is making Bjornsson primarily focus on his strength and building endurance for his upcoming competition.

Oreb justified the lift and wrote, “Yes, this is very light for him, but we’ve done this before, and the outcome has been successful every time.” The former strongest man will be competing in the Shaw Classic in just fifteen weeks, scheduled for August 16–18 this year in Loveland, Colorado. Despite being a lightweight lift for the behemoth, his fans were impressed by it and filled the comment section with support for the former strongman.
Fans have new nicknames for Bjornsson
The Australian Strength Coach commented on the post and declared Bjornsson “Number 1!!!” An admirer of the actor from the series, Game of Thrones gave him a new title and commented, “Deadlift king.” A bodybuilding enthusiast called the former strongman a King and wrote, “Long live THE KING..“

A bodybuilding enthusiast who was caught off guard by the lift commented, “absolutely outrageous!!” Another fan highlighted how easy the Icelandic strongman made the lift look and penned, “It looks so EZ lol 700 is the new 315.” Another Instagram user was left stunned by the lift and had a question regarding the number of reps. “Is seven already cardio for you?” they wrote.
