Bodybuilding behemoth Jay Cutler recently spilled the beans on what makes Phil Heath’s calves stand out in a crowd. Even though calves might seem like a small part of the body, they play a big role in creating a balanced and symmetrical physique. This isn’t a new revelation; even the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger once admitted that his smaller calves cost him a contest against three-time Mr. Olympia, Frank Zane, at the Mr. Universe competition.
Moreover, during a leg day session, Cutler dished out the secret behind Heath’s colossal calf muscles in a video shared on JayCutlerTV YouTube channel. While pumping iron on the seated calf raise machine, Cutler engaged in a conversation with a buddy. “How do you get bigger calves? Seems like every guy wants to have huge calves. I don’t understand it. And I guess I felt the same way,” pondered Cutler.
Turning to his friend, who stands tall at 6’8″, Cutler remarked, “Dude, you’re 6’8″, you have pretty decent calves.” His friend responded with a simple yet revealing statement, “I was a jumper.” This sparked Cutler’s curiosity further. “You think jumping has a lot to do with it, huh?” he queried. His answer seemed to confirm Cutler’s suspicions. “I feel that’s like Phil Heath obviously played basketball. So I think he had really good calf development. I think a lot of basketball players,” Cutler concluded.

The revelation sheds light on the repetitive jumping motion involved in basketball likely contributed significantly to Heath’s impressive calf development. Additionally, even in his 50s, Cutler maintains a competitive physique with impressively large legs, showcasing his dedication to fitness and longevity in bodybuilding.
