Just weeks ago, Buendia suffered a severe injury—a ruptured Achilles tendon. However, in a recent Instagram post, he shared the uplifting news of his return to training.

In a video, Buendia expressed his recovery journey, stating, “I have been gone for a while. For those of you guys that haven’t heard, I ruptured my Achilles three weeks ago. I had surgery to repair it eight days ago, and today was the first day I got back in the gym.” Despite enduring intense pain during his recovery, Buendia emphasized his determination to bounce back, highlighting his previous experiences in overcoming injuries.

“It’s been a really rough three weeks,” Buendia confessed, while also highlighting his excitement saying, “but I’m just glad to be back in the gym.” Buendia’s commitment to his rehabilitation was evident as he outlined his plans for the future. “There’s a lot of work to do, but I’m ready to do it,” he affirmed. He also expressed gratitude for the support he received during this challenging time, acknowledging the impact of his injury on both his physical and mental well-being.

While updating fans about the recovery, he didn’t shy away from admitting the toll. “Man, the last 23 days have been a physical & mental battle! Rupturing the Achilles tendon has to be one of the worst sports injuries you can have,” he added in the post caption. Despite the hurdle he faced, Buendia remained optimistic about his recovery, crediting his sponsors and his dedicated recovery protocol for aiding his journey back to full health.

That being said, the road to recovery is quite long. “It’s gonna be about six months until I make a full recovery, hopefully sooner,” Buendia said, assuring fans that he would keep them updated on his progress. Meanwhile, the bodybuilding icon had earlier taken to social media to share some personal news with his fans.
