Quitting alcohol doing wonders for Tom Holland

During a recent interview with Jay Shetty on the featured Jay Shetty Podcast, British actor Tom Holland opened up about his alcohol habit. He shared how overcoming it completely transformed his life for the better. The video was posted on the official YouTube page of Jay Shetty Podcast with the caption, “TOM HOLLAND Gets Vulnerable About Mental Health & Overcoming Social Anxiety”

As mentioned in the interview, he used to drink a lot in the month of December. However, when he planned to go dry through January, he struggled a lot. He said, “I decided to give up in January. I decided to do dry January and all I could think about was having a drink.” However, he had promised himself that he wouldn’t go back to it.

Tom Holland made an oath to himself to stay clean till his birthday, which would turn out to be 6 months without alcohol. It was then that he realized how the addiction was affecting him. He said, “I was the happiest I have ever been in my life. I could sleep better, I could handle problems better. Things that would go wrong on set that would normally set me off I could take in my stride. I had so much mental clarity. I felt healthier. I felt fitter.”

Tom Holland’s sobriety journey

The journey to sobriety was not easy for Tom Holland. He said, “I didn’t suddenly wake up and choose to quit drinking. It frightened me, making me acknowledge that perhaps I had a minor problem with alcohol.” He actively looked out for professional assistance and relied on a supportive network.
