Possessing one of the largest physiques in Hollywood, Hawaii-born native Jason Momoa has accumulated a range of fans playing action roles in movies. His ripped physique and love for action sequences earned him roles in movies like Dune, where he played Duncan Idaho, Justice League, and Aquaman, where he played the latter titular character. His most recent venture was Fast X, where he played the negative role of Dante Reyes. However, owing to the role, Momoa also came under a lot of criticism for not being able to maintain his chiseled physique in the film. As it turns out, he isn’t a bodybuilding fanatic.

While it could’ve been a result of Momoa disliking training and working out unless he is paid for a film role, his fans, on the other hand, defended him. They believe that their favorite star’s physique is still superior to most others.

In a recent YouTube video by Paris Demers titled, “Jason Momoa is getting in trouble for being fat…”, the YouTuber explained how and why the audience didn’t like his appearance as Dante Reyes in Fast X. They believed Momoa looked too chubby for the role, especially when compared to his physique in Aquaman, where he had a leaner, more chiseled body.

The criticism, as Demers put it, came from “an army of 17-year-old gym bros”. Demers also said, “But Jason Momoa isn’t a lunatic like Christian Bale, who loves transforming his body for fun. Jason Momoa hates weight training and dieting, and he just wants to drink Guinness Beer, rock climb, and ride his bike,” explaining the reason why Momoa might not care as much as other fitness-fanatic actors do.

Therefore, since his role in Fast X didn’t demand a chiseled look from Momoa, especially given that he wasn’t bare-bodied for most of the time, he never bothered dieting and training to the maximum. As his fans praised him for his physique, Jason Momoa once more gained the respect of the fitness community.

Momoa’s fans can still make a clear distinction between him and other people

Upon learning about the criticism that Jason Momoa has faced for his physique in Fast X, many of his fans were baffled. They couldn’t believe how sturdy he still looked and that his body was still better than most others. Some of their reactions are:

“If he is “fat”, the rest of us are hippos,” wrote a fan who put in an animal world perspective to make his point clear. “Funny cause Jason is still more ripped than 90% of the people complaining,” wrote a fan who didn’t hesitate in spitting facts. “Tbh I wouldn’t even say he is fat lol,” wrote another fan who still thinks Momoa’s body is strong but not fat.

“He could have Thor’s depression bod and he’d still be hotter than most men,” wrote a fan who drew an analogy with Chris Hemsworth actually gaining weight for his role in Avengers: Endgame. “He’s on the Bulking phase,” wrote a fan who is simply supporting Momoa in his lifestyle.

Jason Momoa has never shied away from displaying his big physique onscreen. Be it as Khal Drogo for Game of Thrones, Duncan Idaho in Dune, Aquaman, or Dante Reyes in Fast X. No matter what the role demanded, Momoa delivered. However, besides that, Momoa cares more about enjoying life and doesn’t really give in to the excessive pressure of being chiseled and jacked for any role.
