WrestleMania 40 which happened at the beginning of this month was full of surprises. Almost every athlete did their transformation for it. The main transformation that attracted attention was that of 53-year-old athlete Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock. The Rock recently shared a video of his soul-crushing leg workout, which went viral and got the attention of bodybuilding critic and IFBB Pro Coach Greg Doucette. Doucette sure had something to say about it.

Uploaded a video on his YouTube channel, the IFBB coach criticized the Rock for his workout. Doucette examined both workouts done by Johnson thoroughly and gave his final verdict. Let’s find out what coach Doucette had to say about the WWE star’s regime.

At the start of the video, Doucette asks his viewers a pertinent question. He asked, “Does anyone think that The Rock’s actually natural?” Without wasting any time, the IFBB Pro expressed his thoughts and said, “Well my personal opinion he’s blasting everything under the sun. I don’t believe he’s only on HRT. I don’t think you can get a physique like that while training with just HRT, especially at his age.”

According to Doucette, Johnson was engaging in his workout just for the show and views. The IFBB Pro called Johnson’s workout a “Bikini girl type workout—something that you don’t really want to put on muscle.” The IFBB Pro coach explained that the workout The Rock did was not to gain muscles but to burn more fat and increase metabolism levels to have an easy workout. “You can say no, I’m just a hater, but as you watch this workout, think of it: he’s about 6’5 285 lbs of muscle, and I don’t think he’s natural, and if you think that this is the workout that he did to build up that amazing physique, well, what else are you going to believe?” Doucette made his skepticism known.

This is not the first time a bodybuilding critic has criticized The Rock for his approach. Last year, the well-known bodybuilding critic Dr. Mike Israetel, aka the Exercise Scientist, reacted to the 53-year-old athlete.

The Exercise Scientist is not in favor of Johnson’s workout

The Rock made it to the Exercise Scientist’s video series on his YouTube channel Renaissance Periodization. The former professor used a video posted by Johnson of him doing an exercise using dumbbells attached to chains. The Rock used these for a set of bicep curls. However, the Exercise Scientist was not in the favor of exercise done by the Rock.

The former professor said, “What chains do is create needless wobbling, which destabilizes your body and actually reduces force production by your shoulders, almost every time you destabilize the system, it is unable to produce much force.” According to the Exercise Scientist, there is no proper force applied to the biceps, and the exercise was actually futile.

The Rock has faced a lot of criticism from bodybuilding critics for his exercises. What are your views on his training regime? Do you follow the exercises shown by the Rock in his videos? Let us know in the comments.
