Samson Dauda recently made waves with his decision to join Oxygen Gyms after parting ways with his former coach, Milos Sarcev. Dauda’s move promises an intriguing shift in his training approach. However, his announcement on social media sparked varied reactions from fans, with some expressing support for the decision while others have raised their skepticism.

The Nigerian Lion parted ways with Sarcev days after losing to Hadi Choopan at the Arnold Classic. Dauda fell short and couldn’t defend his title, and on the 7th of March, Sarcev officially announced their separation. Although their separation saddened the bodybuilding community, now, months after their parting, Dauda seems to have begun a new chapter.

The former Arnold Classic champ took to his social media accounts and expressed his excitement for what was in store for the future. “So… onto the next chapter coming this Summer, I will be joining the @o2_gyms Team under the watchful eye of @bader_boodai and the Oxygen team while being coached by my wife @marlenka1,” he wrote on Instagram.

Dauda showcased his gratitude to the Oxygen team for the warm welcome, saying, “I want to say thank you to @bader_boodai and the @o2_gyms team for being so welcoming to me and my wife, we truly appreciate this opportunity.” Dauda’s decision to train under his wife, Marlenka, as his coach has raised eyebrows among many. However, Marlenka has been instrumental in Dauda’s training since the beginning of his career.

On the other hand, many individuals have raised the question about Dauda, choosing Oxygen. Well! Founded by Bader Bodai in Kuwait in 2004, Oxygen is renowned for its top-tier facilities. The gym’s Dubai branch is often referred to as the “Modern Mecca” of bodybuilding. Despite its luxurious appeal, Oxygen Gym is known for its intense workouts.

Learning about Dauda’s decision, the fitness community seemed divided.

Fans laud Oxygen decision, but skeptical over Marlenka taking over as coach

Many fans thought Dauda joining the Oxygen Gym was a brilliant decision owing to it being one of the best places to train in the world. “Excellent choice, this has to be 1 of the best training facilities in the world so grab the opportunity with both hands,” said a fan. One defended Samson’s decision to join Oxygen Gym and urged others to stop criticizing him. “For anyone hating on this just stop. Obviously, Samson is on the inside looking in while we are on the outside….just support the dude in whatever path he decides to take!” wrote a user.

Fans were confident enough that he might win the Olympia this year, and said, “Fully set up to fight for that Olympia title! Go get it.” One humorously asked Dauda to stay focused and penned, “Just do your cardio.” On the other hand, some raised concerns and asked, “Did oxygen make you block your ex-coach and the other bodybuilders?” Another expressed uncertainty about whether this decision is the best choice for his career. “Happy wife, happy life. Not sure if that’s the right thing to do though.”
