While he wasn’t lifting too heavy during his competition prep in 2023, Wheels is back to lifting heavy during the offseason. However, the bodybuilder often lifts so heavy that even experienced lifters struggle to keep up with the 29-year-old.

Numerous people have gotten injured while training with Larry Wheels. From prominent influencers like Noel Deyzel and the late Joe Lindner or less famous guests trying to attempt PRs. In fact, so many have suffered injuries that even the 29-year-old himself has a video called The Curse of Larry Wheels on his YouTube channel. Earlier, the curse nearly struck again.

Too strong for the spotter
The bodybuilder uploaded a clip where two men stood on raised platforms and handed Wheels 200 lb dumbbells. While many people have 200 lbs bench press PRs, Larry Wheels was about to inclined press with the dumbbells for reps. This wasn’t his first attempt. A few days ago, the powerlifter successfully repped 400 lbs dumbbell presses. However, this time things went wrong.

One of the spotters, struggling to hand Larry Wheels a 200 lb dumbbell, slipped and fell. Fortunately, he managed to stay upright and avoided serious injury to himself and Wheels. “Near death experience trying to grab the 200s,” the arm-wrestling enthusiast wrote in the caption. While the 29-year-old might be super strong, not everyone around him is in the same league. In fact, fans were certain that there was no escaping ‘The Larry Wheels Curse.’

Two-time Classic Physique Olympia winner Breon Ansley also commented on the post. “Just spotting your a** is life-threatening,” wrote The Black Swan, agreeing with fans.
“The Larry Curse was about to hit,” commented another fan.
One even said he would leave the gym to avoid the curse if he ever found himself in the same gym as Larry Wheels. “I’ve seen enough accidents on Larry’s page to know to exit the gym when I see he’s in there training,” commented the fan.

It’s alarming that so many people have gotten injured training with Larry Wheels. However, it could be that they try to impress the powerlifter with their strength, but sometimes it ends in disaster.
