Pro bodybuilder Neil Currey passed away at 34, shocking the bodybuilding world. Currey was found unresponsive inside his flat in Sheffield in September 2023. The Sheffield’s Medico-Legal Centre revealed that the bodybuilder passed after taking a lethal mix of c*ca*ne and m*th on Tuesday, April 16. However, the late bodybuilder’s parent blamed something else.

Nigel and Sandra Currey appeared for the hearing in court. Currey’s parents said that Neil Currey resorted to using anabolic ste***ds to enhance his physique. The elderly couple said he “went off the scale” with PEDs to compete professionally. However, they started affecting his mental health. Neil Currery battled demons, although he was cheerful and endearing on the surface.

Neil Currey used ste***ds for years to earn his pro card and compete at the Olympia. However, the bodybuilder became “very isolated and depressed,” by 2023, his parents revealed in a written statement. Nigel and Sandra Currey lamented that the professional bodybuilder had cut himself off from his family in the months leading up to his death.

The Curreys believe that prolonged ste***d usage pushed their son beyond the limit. While the IFBB has banned all PEDs under the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) list, their use has become an open secret. “Without the use of ste***ds, it is impossible to compete,” wrote the distraught parents of Neil Currey.
