However, bodybuilding legend Lee Priest, who is still following the same workout regimen into his 50s, shared a valuable lesson to achieve well-rounded delts. 

The 50-year-old bodybuilding champion recently made headlines as he gave eye-opening advice to youngsters for training small muscles effectively and efficiently. 

Lee Priest wants bodybuilders to prioritize form over weights

The former IFBB Pro has maintained an exceptional physique by following the same workout routine for the past thirty years. Priest recently talked about his observation that youngsters tend to lift heavy weights while training the delts, in the belief that it is the only way to build muscle.

In an interview with Sam’s Fitness, he said “I see people lifting 80 pounds and they are just pulling their arms and not focusing on their delts”. According to the Australian bodybuilder, this excessive importance to heavy weight training is the main reason why most bodybuilders can’t train their shoulders effectively.

Lee Priest’s secret to success is not just lifting heavy weights but rather focusing on the proper range of motion during his shoulder workouts. He advised the youngster to prioritize better form over ego-lifting. “So leave your ego at the door if you are training rear delts.”, emphasizes Priest. However, the 2013 NABBA Mr. Universe winner also had unique ideas for people who are not so frequent at the gym.

Lee Priest is known for giving efficient alternatives to mainstream exercises. The star bodybuilder once revealed how most government parks and local parks can be an effective platform for those who don’t go to the gym but still want to train.  In a video shared by Sam’s Fitness, the Australian bodybuilder used an EZ barbell and performed multiple variations to train every part of the body. 

Priest’s advice is a strong example of how a person can achieve goals even if they are short on resources.  Lee Priest’s approach to bodybuilding is a lesson that new-age bodybuilders can learn from. The 50-year-old bodybuilding star continues to inspire budding bodybuilders and advise them toward healthy training practices.
