The Classic Physique division has often had the best contenders in the bodybuilding arena, bringing back the golden era since it was introduced in 2016. The rising French internet sensation, Stephane Matala, aka Mr. Unchained, was the runner-up at the 2023 Mr. Big Evolution Pro Portugal in the Classic Physique division.

Mr. Unchained has left his fans and the bodybuilding community ablaze at the mere age of 27. In a recent Instagram post uploaded on his account, he gave a physique update, leading his fans to compare him with the uncrowned king of Mr. Olympia.

Mr. Unchained’s chiseled-back update

Matala posted a series of pictures displaying his gigantic back. The first picture displayed Matala in the double-back bicep pose, highlighting his immensely strong biceps and round shoulders, along with his tremendous forearms complementing his chiseled back. The muscle definition and the conditioning of his back were to the point.

In the second picture, his back was taking on a proper shape, with his lats looking like wings. His small waist and massive upper body make his physique unique with Matala often compared to a rocket because of his widely spread lats. 

In the last picture, he showcased a Christmas tree back, spreading his back as much as possible, putting up a show of volume and hardness. The veins on his forearms were easy to spot, despite not being the main attraction of the picture. This highlighted the immense hard work and dedication he has put into building such a killer physique. Looking at the physique update, fans were left stunned and compared him with two of the best bodybuilders in the community.

Is Matala’s physique like that of the seven-time Mr. Olympia?

An admirer of Mr. Unchained compared him with the seven-time Mr. Olympia Champion, commenting, “New Phil Heath.” One fitness enthusiast commented on Matala’s chiseled physique and wrote, “Looks like he was sculpted from clay.” A fan even gave a warning to his competitors and said, “The game is over.”

A bodybuilding critique praised Mr. Unchained’s back and compared it with an art piece, commenting, “No more need to go to the museum to see works of art.” Another fan highlighted the wide lats and wrote, “The rocket to the other galaxies.” A bodybuilding fan found a resemblance to the uncrowned king of bodybuilding in Matala’s physique and wrote, “Hey you new kevin levrone.”
