Nineteen years ago, Clarida started his bodybuilding journey. Originally a wrestler in college and focused on power and strength, Clarida met an experienced bodybuilder at his gym who encouraged him to try the sport out.

In the carousel of seven images he posted on his Instagram, Clarida unveiled his journey from a novice competitor to a champion. Reflecting on his humble beginnings, he reminisced, “On this day 19 years ago, I entered my very first bodybuilding competition.” Despite being a former D1 college wrestler with no prior knowledge of bodybuilding, Clarida embraced the challenge wholeheartedly.

Clarida recalled how he had some skepticism initially, but with the help of this mentor, he entered his first competition after three months of training. “I stepped on stage at the 2005 NPC Natural Mid-Atlantic, where I placed 3rd out of 5 in the Novice class. For those, wondering I was 118lbs,” he exclaimed.

After placing third in his first competition, Clarida decided to quit wrestling and pursue bodybuilding full time because he loved the challenge and excitement of preparing for competitions. Clarida’s passion for bodybuilding has remained strong over the years, and he continues to compete because he “absolutely LOVE this sport and all it entails.” As the bodybuilder reveals, “As long as it keeps burning hot, I’m going to keep going!”
