The ice bath is a cold-water immersion therapy that involves submerging the body in icy water for a specific duration. While the exercise has found significant acknowledgment from bodybuilding influencers like Mark Wahlberg and Phil Heath, the latest comment has come from a UFC icon who openly endorsed its benefits to improve sleep and recovery. 

Georges St-Pierre does cold plunges but with a twist

In an interview with Muscle and Health, the UFC icon shared how this practice not only invigorates him with an adrenaline rush but also helped in boosting testosterone levels and significantly improved his sleep quality. Georges St-Pierre said, It gives me a good rush of adrenaline and helps boost testosterone.”

St-Pierre discovered that incorporating an ice bath into his evening routine greatly enhances his sleep quality. He described his approach, which involves alternating between hot and cold therapy, such as ice baths, Jacuzzis, and showers.If I want to enhance my quality of sleep, I take an ice bath just before bed. I mix hot and cold therapy,” he said.

The 2x UFC champion revealed that this stark contrast in temperatures creates a sudden release of adrenaline. He further added that following this method has had a profound impact on his sleeping patterns. “This creates a dump of adrenaline and improves sleep drastically,” he told Muscle and Health Magazine. However, this is not the first time when this method has been becoming a topic of discussion.

Popular Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg recently took to his Instagram and posted a video doing cold plunges. Wahlberg revealed how plunges assist in the overall growth and well-being of a person’s body.

Even the 7x Mr. Olympia champion Phil Heath once opened up about how this method became a part of his morning routine. Despite being skeptical in the beginning, Heath took up the challenge and experienced some positive changes in his body. “I knew all my aches and pains would expose themselves, but D**** it truly feels amazing!” admitted Heath in the post.
