The Icelandic bodybuilder’s injury took the Strongman and bodybuilding circuit by surprise a few months ago. Hafthor Bjornsson met with an unforeseen accident while performing a bench press with a heavy set of weights, trying to set a record by bench pressing 556 lbs. live on social media. Earlier, Hafthor Bjornsson posted a video on YouTube, updating about his recovery from the surgery. The ‘shorts’ mimic a transition reel. He shows a throwback picture of himself with visibly bruised, purplish ribs and waist. However, in the current video, he took out his black T-shirt to give followers a look at his recovery. There was no sign of a bruise, just a small incision on his tattooed chest. The happy Mountain added,” How did I go from this to this? Check it out! The incision looks fu**ing awesome. The pack is full. Feeling strong and so fu**ing big.”

Hafthor Bjornsson was satisfied with the outcome of the surgery, and the 395-lb Strongman looked huge. He thanked his doctor, saying, “Shout to my man, Dr. Steve Mora. He did such an amazing job with the incision, as you guys can see, looks fu**ing amazing.” Even before the surgery, the 34-year-old athlete seemed confident in his team of doctors and surgeons. Most people would be wary of going under the knife, but not Bjornsson.

Furthermore, the Icelandic giant started working out nine weeks after the surgery. “I am now 9 weeks post-surgery tomorrow. Actually, beginning to lift with small dumbbells on the pack. I am squatting, and I did some light deadlifts yesterday, so things are going in the right direction,” commented Bjornsson.
Recovering from surgery was a challenge for Bjornsson
Although the Mountain was doing well, his journey to recovery was a bit rocky. Bjornsson had to go through another surgery to treat his bacterial infection. However, these hiccups did not deter the Strongman from training hard. He was working out his legs with Mike O’Hearn a few weeks later.
